E-Book Writing - 5 Mistakes Writers Make When Writing Online And How To Avoid Them
If you are writing an eBook, you will most likely want to sell it and repurpose the content for sale when it is completed. In order to do this, you must make sure you write in a way that appeals to your readers. I have been teaching people how to write articles and eBooks for some time now and have observed some common mistakes that people make when writing online.
- Perfectionism - Do not make the mistake of waiting until your writing is perfect before you publish it online. As long as the writing represents you well and communicates your thoughts effectively, get it out there for others to read. Remember that nothing is ever perfect, and that is a very subjective determination.
- Using words that are difficult to understand - Leave your 10 gallon words behind and write the way you would talk to someone. If someone will need a dictionary or thesaurus to figure out what you are writing about, they will never finish reading what you have written.
- Writing long, drawn out sentences - Keep your sentences short and succinct. Eliminate compound sentences completely. People have a much shorter attention span when reading online.
- Not getting to the point - You must get to the point quickly when writing online. Whether you are writing an article, a blog post, or an eBook, get to the point as quickly as possible.
- Not knowing your audience - Get to know who your readers are and what appeals to them. Figure out who your ideal client is and write as though you were speaking directly to that one person. The sooner you do this, the more effective your writing will be.
Eliminate these common mistakes and you will have improved results almost immediately.
